turbo sizing help

I am going to be starting a gsx road race build and was stuck on what size turbo to use. I want to make big power but it needs to be in the lower rpm ranges for road racing. I will be using a 4g63 6 bolt 2.4 stroker motor and was wondering about suggestions for a turbo.

gt28r or also known as the disco potato. Its basically the same thing as the evoIII16g, but is a dual ball bearing turbo that has a superfast spool. If thats a bit too small for you becuase your going to upgrade to a 2.4 you could go with a gt35r for more power but you still may see some turbo lag because of the shear size of the thing.

how much does that cost? how much hp can you get out of it?

You actually get a higher peak hp out of the evoIII16g, but because its not a dual ball bearing turbo it has a slower spool. The disco potato is a favorite turbo for msp owners who basically have the same motor as a 4g63, dohc 2.0 liter... ironically enough the car from mazda comes stock with a t25. The msp's tranny is geared pretty low, its got a wicked top end ( cruses 55 at 1900 in 5th, and the super fast spool helps them out alot. Back to the point, the gt28r is a turbo thats best suited for autocross... it also carrys a much higher price tag then the III16g. If your just looking to go fast in a stright line and only have fwd your better off the the 16g turbo then the gt28r

It id going to be a road race gsx in the nasa pro racing performance touring series. But because of the planned mods the car will only be eligible in the unlimited class which is also like modded vettes and everything so I wanted as much useable power as possible.

I talked about the gt28r turbo before, and everyone said it was good. Now I am a little confused. I was planning on putting it in my car and everyone said no. So is the gt28r turbo good?

depending on what you want. If you want drag its better to go with the evo becuase of a higher peak hp and its cheaper. Where if you want an autocross turbo the gt28r is better becuase it has a faster spool time and has more power in the lower end of the rpm range.
