They are as reliable as any 7 to 15 year old used car. I have 2, one TT with 180K and an RT with 160K, no spun bearings, no major problems. All the little gadgets and gizmo's still work fine. It all depends on what kind of maintenance and upkeep the previous owners performed.

Yeah, thats why i thought they were wrong. Most of them probly suck because people beat the balls out of them... but replacing a few vital parts should "shed" some miles off of it thanks for the info.. gotta hear it from a REAL owner to get the truth

One problem common to all of them is subpar capacitors used in the electronic equipment (ECU, TCU, ECS, et. al.) They will fail over time and need replaced. The capacitors can be replaced for $100-200 per unit. Another problem is the tranny and transfer case for the 5 speeds can fail. They are not strong enough to repeatedly "launch" a 3800 pound car. They simply won't withstand that kind of abuse.

It's just a rumor. Everyone has something bad to say about something else. I've had 2 3000GTs, and haven't had a single problem with either one. There was a recall on the transfer case, so you can bring it to any Mitsu dealership and have it replaced.
Any car is going to fall apart and break if you beat on it. Treat it well, and it will do the same for you.

it also depends on how well the car was taken car of i bought a 3000gt vr4 that had a timing belt break and this guy fixed most problems but things keep coming up and its gettin costly so im just throwing in a new engine so just get it checked out make sure it comes out clean

You cant honestly say they dont spun bearings? come on how many 1G 6G72TTs have you seen do it. I know I have personally ask NESpeed he did a 95 motor\tranny swap in his 92 stealth cause of a spun bearing. On top of that I have read it a hundred times before that they really are strong but the bearings are its weakest point in the early years. I have also seen alot of Tranny and drivetrain troubles but my guess is mostly generated by people trying to launch the car all the time.

Prior owner is def alot of it but I would be leery of the early models when looking at them. THat is just me I guess

are you talking VR4? The N\A are not the same internally obviously. But I know the bearing thing is no rumor
