Hi everyone! I'm new here and kind of stuck with my Montero's engine. I have a 1994 Mitsubishi Montero SR(3.5L V6). I replaced the cylinder head gasket and now I'm trying to put everything back together. I've been trying to align the timing marks of the camshaft sprocket(on the cylinder head) but they wont stay at the mark. They either go too far or stay back. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? What will happen if I just leave it like it is? I would appreciate any kind of help as I have no idea what to do. Thanks,

Aun Abidi

Start the timing belt the the crank, working your way around the left exhaust cam (right side while facing the engine compartment) linging up the timing marks. Once the timing marks are lined up, use some heavy metal paperclips (the black ones used to hold bulk amount of paper) to hold the belt onto each cam sprocket. From the left head down the to the H20 Pump and then to the right head (left side facing the engine compartment) using the same paperclip technique. Once the belt is wrapped around the cam sprockets, the cams will no longer rotate due to vavle spring tension. Good Luck!
