im in the process of buying a 3000gt, and i found one near by for $2000. 5 speed. but it has 220,000 highway miles. my question is: is it too late or does the milage not that bad? she also said there are no problems with it engine wise and the only thing is that its got 220,000...is it worth buying?

Take the car for a test drive. See how it runs and how it feels when you drive it. I would find out if anythiing like the tranny, water pump, fuel pump or anything else major has broke or been replaced. Cause the car has been put threw 220,000 miles on it. In the end you are the one who is going to have to decide whether you buy it cause you will be driving it.

However...if you try it and like it i would try and plead the case that the car is worn out and try to talk the owner down as far as possible... its up to you but really if it was me...i would look for another one that isnt worn out... what year is this one anyway???

be very careful when buying a car like that, Anyone can tell you they're all highway miles, but who's there to prove them right? like the other people said, test drive it, hard too, dont be afraid its got so many miles, if if its worth your money, it should be able to take a little punishment (a little though!!) and then you decide. It helps that it is a Mitsu, their engines are proven to last long

With a price that low, be weary. Look at the interior- if it is "all highway miles" the interior shouldn't be as bad as you would expect for 220k miles. Also see if they have the maintenance receipts for it, then you can gauge the true condition of the car- I know I keep all my receipts in the owners manual of my car. If you have enough money to replace the engine in a few months than it may be a worthwhile "investment", and you will also be able to learn about the car at the same time. I would honestly plan on the engine failing before planning on it running another 50k miles, at least then you are safe.
