how much would it be to get a nice but not too expensive paint job.

i was thinking wet sand
2 coats of origional color
and 2 or 3 coats of clear

no clue...around here if you want em cheap you should go ahead and stripp the paint on your car yourself so that you can just take it over and all they have to do is just flat out paint it for ya for around 700 - 1000 bucks...Otherwise the more professional people charge a flat rate of each part of the body and run about 2g alltogether..

as an estimate how much are you generally looking to pay??

You might wanna rethink doing it yourself. Its not that easy and its not something you will do well first time round. I also think its alot mroe than 1000 depending what you want to have done. Do you want engine bay and all that and have every square inch painted... or just an exterior respray. Still... its alot more than 1000

i have experience and i'm no looking for a showcar finish, just somthin to cover up the old faded and pitted paint.

I'm probably just gonna paint the visible parts. its gonna be the same color as origional so it wont look like somthin out of a circus.
