I have a 92mits 3000 with a 1993 or 1994 engine. It is not firing on #3 & #6 cyl. Replaced plugs, wires, coil paks. Does anyone know if the firing comes straight from the computer or does it come from somewhere else. I took it to a garage and it stumped them!?

It could be the PTU, the unit right under your coil pack, or the ECU could be failing. I had the same cylinders not firing on my TT, after a week of tracing wires, checking parts, it ended up being the ECU.
Basically, the order of events go something like this: Sensors>ECU>PTU>Coilpacks>Plugwires>plugs.
I would bet that it is the ECU.

Check the PTU first though...How to check PTU, courtesy of Stealth316
