the 3500 lb max, that is the tounge weight. Not the entire thing. The wheels on the trailer carry the majority of the weight. Th tongue weight is " the weight from the wheels to the hitch." That is where Mitsu. gets its max weight loads.

The Endeavor is rated to tow 3500 lbs period. That's not to say it cannot tow more than that , it's just what mitsubishi feels it can tow safely on a repetitive basis factoring in the suspension, frame, braking ability, and drivetrain. Remember that they will rate conservatively, knowing that not everyone will watch their loads and weights carefully. If you towed on a Uhaul transport the majority of the weight was being supported on the towed vehicles wheels if it's the two wheel trailer that straps in the front two wheels. This means you are really towing the rolling resistance of that weight more so than the actual trailered weight. Nonetheless I would have hated to have been your brakes on that day. I also wouldn't like to put my CV joints through that much stress.
The second gen behemoth Camaro's still weighed in at less than 3700lbs, how did you get 5500 LBS of Camaro behind your Endeavor? I'm a Camaro fan and still dearly miss my modded 79. Post details and pics if you have any.

careful.
thats the kinda thing that promptly destroys transmissions as they overheat and cook without you even knowing it.

well, the endeavor has the heaviest duty of all mitsu autos in it, and a large trans cooler.
but they didnt take into consideration people overloading the truck, either.

I stand corrected, I didn't give the 4 spd that much credit.
