Hi, I'm a newbie here at this forum, so I'll be quick and brief. Although I do not own a Mitsubishi Vehicle myself, i'm surely addicted to them and in my oppinion; The best car brand of all times. I Currently own A 1995 Hyundai Sonata 3,0L V6 GLS sedan, and i really love that car! I was also pretty impressed when I first had a look at the engine, a smooth running 3,0L SOHC 12 valve V6. when i did some research on the engine on the world wide web, I found out something rather interresting, the Engine is a Mitsubishi engineand designated "Sigma" now what I want to know is if the Engine is a SOHC 12-valve version of the 24-valve DOHC version, wich is found in the Mitsubishi Sigma, 3000GT, Diamante, etc? and is the engine made at the mitsubishi plant in Japan, or is it a contract engine made by Hyundai?
Also if you can find some info, technical data, and/or general facts on this engine, i would be extremly greatfull!

Thanks in advance

PS; Mitsubishi RULES!!!

Welcome. The engine that you have in the sonata is a mitsubishi engine made strictly by mitsubishi. And you engine is sort of like the DOHC except they actually made a 24valve SOHC version as well, but mostly its the same. They are all cassified under the engine code "6G72". Here is some info on it. This is the best i could find http://robskorner.org/faqs/othermotors/othermotors.html

thanx for the info, helped a lot! Anybody know how long these engines usually last? I drive it very carefully, I'm rarely pushi'n it over 2500 rpm and i change oil every 3000km, using valvoline Maxlife 100.000 engine oil. It has currently 197000 km's on it and I will have it as long as I can, how long can I expect It to last with my maintainace interwalls.

that engine can last as long as you want it to really. You can definetly get over 200,000 miles on it without it dying out on you. Or around 322,000 km since you seem to use metric. But with those small oil change intervals and maintenence this should be no problem. Make sure you keep up on the improtant stuff to like spark plugs, timing belt, ect. Just the general maintenence stuff
