Unfortunately, the mechanic will typically only be able to swap it out,and see if the issue goes away.I suggest you find the ECM(Engine Control Module) and write down the number off of it,then run it on ebay, and see what you come up with.I originally figured that my ECM for my Talon would be a chunk of change, but i was pleasantly surprised....Im not sure, but the mitsubishi dealer might haave a diagnostic tool(kinda like GMs Tech II) that would pinpoint the problem.I personally hate taking anything to a dealership, but if youre limited in tools, and information...not to mention time,it might be the quickest route out,but not the cheapest....and concerning Auto Zone.......well I wont bother....

or you could even go to a junk yard and find an ECU

yeah but i hear that an ecu must be an exact match to my vehicle, kinda like an organ donor - i t will reject it if it is not a perfect match. So odds of finding it at a junk yard? well, ill wait to see what the outcome is.... i mean i dont even know yet - I just hope it is nothing serious.

ok, so this is what happened..... took it to the place that fixed my ac this summer- wonderful people. They diagnosed it to be a spark plug again. so they checked them, and low and behold one of them had a crack in it. BUT. my mechanic had already changed them- put all new ones...... so they replaced them again! The car ran fine , F O R 2 D A YS!. now its back to the same old thing. check engine light came on, its spudderign even worse it seems. Im about ready to drive it and myself off a cliff! what now??? they told me if it comes back to take it back to them but what can it be???? why is it doiug this. The owner of the garage told me that the car cannot be crakcing them, he said thats imposible. i asked him this on friday, before it started happening again - i was curious. so what the hell is going on here????????
