I'm considering getting an Evo MR. The debate is between the STi and the MR. I like the interior of the Evo better and the fact that it's better for drag. I also like the look of the vortex generator. One of the bigger things thats draws me to the MR over the STi is that my boyfriend has a WRX. I'm gonna be getting one or the other in August but I still have a few worries about the Evo.. although that's what I'm leaning towards. If Mitsubishi does not stay in the US and leaves next year I'm concerned about what will happen to prices of mods, how easy it will be to find service, prices of service, the list could go on. What are your thoughts?

They will NOT leave the US. No way. Not a chance. They will simply make their designs more desirable. Fire a few people and hire some more creative minds. That kind of thing. As for the price of mods, even if they did leave its not mitsubishi making them anyway so they wont be any different. However if they did leave (and they are not) parts would be a bitch because everything would have to be imported. That will not happen though so no worrys.

Just make sure you get it in a stick... few simple mods (EMonz some ncie tips would be good around now) and you will be beating that STi easily... EVO owns STi

personally i dont see the reason for getting an MR over a regular evo 9. The only big differences are that you get the 6 speed instead of 5. And it has a lighter roof. Other than that i dont think theres much. And youll be paying way more money than for the regular one. The mojor problem with the sti is the strength of the motor, you really cant do to much work before you need to start upgrading the internals. But with the evo there is plenty of room to get that thing into the 11's without any internal modifications. The one problem that arises alot with evo's is the transfer case's are know to break, but only if you really beat on the car. I mean like 6k launched, dropping the clutch hard all the time. Emonz has around 40k and he still has stock clutch and transfer case. So its really only a problem if you make it to be. My suggestion, go and test drive an Evo and i think once you do, you will have to have it. The suspension and steering are just simply amazing. If your really set on gettting the MR then go for it. But make sure you really want it before you spend the extra 6k or whatever it is for it. If its the votex generator that you want, you can buy those anywhere.

the EVO has the stronger motor. the EVO has better handleing in corners.. the STi has better drive train. It comes down to you and what you want I wanted an STi origanaly but got a VIII instead and I am happy I did it is fun.

The EVO tq split is 50\50 the STi is 30\70 and can be changed to 50\50 or 70\30. the stock clutch in the EVO is know to last on average like 20-30k(with lots of racing) I am still on the stocker at 36k and reason whyis I dont launch my car I have done it maybe 4 times.

All I can say is test drive both and I think the EVO will be your choice the STi has alot more vibration inside from the flat motor. and if it makes any difference I went to mitsu to get my EVOs 15k service done and I see a guy pulling out with a brand new EVO IX so I talked with him he said " I just bought it I traded my STi" his STi was modded I saw it on the lot so I asked what he liked better he said "hands down the EVO its faster stock and feels better in turns" then we raced lol I smoked him but hey he was stock.

EVOs handle better that is what I said in my post. you can see the difference if you watch the two cars on a track together too.

I noticed that when i was at Castle Coombe. When an STi and an EVO went round the same corner the STi was always wide out of the corner.

the evo is my dream car i want one i have an eclipse now and im getting ready to graduate and join the military....... would i be better or not purchasing the MR? i mean $7K more and whats the diff?????
