Ok here is the story, when i am sitting still at idle when i first start my car everything is fine, and my rpms are good, but after a little while of driving when i step on the clutch my rpms drop to about 300 and my car stalls out. This happens mostly when i try to coast down a hill but sometimes it happens when i am just sitting at a light. I can start it fine afterwards but its starting to piss me off. Not sure what is causeing it so absolutly any help on this would be great. also i have a 96 3000gt sl 5spd of course. thanks in advance.

yo big k.

same problem. '98 3000GT base model (auto, no turbo, no mods) v6 SHOC. also have oil burning under the hood. probably a leak in the manifold gaskets. not sure at all. my car does the same thing but there are some weird things that happen. hoping someone will see this and point me in the right direction. ANYTIME that anyone touches anything under the hood the car will stall complively. after that it will straighten out but i think im loosing pressure in the engine because when i have the car in gear and am driving on the highway. my oil pressure gauge will flucuate up and down with the reving of the engine.

****ing dealer screwed me. i went to this place and they wont cover anything under my warranty. baught it for 10k @ 99,099 miles. realizing now that i got ripped off.

let me know if you find anything

sounds like it might be your clutch if you stall when you put it down. i had a similar problem when my clutch went in my 94 3000gt sl. this was also the clutch i learned on so that is probably why it broke, but it started with clutch slip that got progressively worse until i was unable to drive the car completely. i got the clutch replaced and it ran me about $1300, work and all.
you should bring it to your mechanic if you want to really know what is going on with your car. i could be wrong but it sounds similar to what happened to me. good luck with the car...
