hey guys im brand new to this forum. i own a 97 gs-t, recently i heard a knocking in the engine and had a mechanic look at it. he originally thought it was the berrings so all four were repaced. the knocking was still there and he now said that the crack shaft might be the problem. he wants to charge roughly 2000. is this a good price? or am i being ripped off. also would there be any chance that i could safley drive it around with out further damaging the motor, because i wont have the money right away. could you guys tell me if this is a good deal. thanks guys

If he is asking 2 grand for that (wich is roughly the right price) then you might as well get a race motor for that.

is it more of a ticking then a knocking because it may just be lifter tick which is common, and in which case does not really need to be fixed.
