I own a 06 Evo IX and i had to replace the clutch at 5,500 miles it started to slip bad and I drive cars like this for a part of my living. Although I may be biased since I work for them, I put a Fidanza 4.3 clutch in and their flywheel and it has been great so far. The problem with the stock clutches is heat. The entire design does not dissapate heat very well and in conjuction with the disc material is a recipe for crap in a performacne car. Also the pressure plate has three "fingers" that come down and engage, but when the material fails it then engages the flywheel. Basically the stockers are crap in a 250+ hp awd car. Cerametallic, sintered iron and carbon clutches work great, also aluminum flywheels help dissapate heat tremendously away from the disc.
