Alright, i was told that there is a next step bolt on for the 2G turbo before i have to start doing custom work, is that true, and is there more than just one?

are you asking what the next step up turbo is? If so that would be the T28. But there are a few options. That one is just direct plug and play.

evoIII16g is has a higer peek hp then the t28 and is alot cheaper. For your set up, get a mbc and a boost gauge. Raise the boost up to 17psi (stock fuel systems limit) and your set. Thats going to be the most hp you can get out of that stock turbo and that should set you pretty in high 13's in the 1/4.

The Evo III 16g is also NOT a direct replacement turbo. The 2gen Eclises run Garret turbos and the 1gen run Mitsu turbos. He has a 1995 running a T25...the T28 is the 1 step up direct bolt on upgrade. Going to a 16G is bigger and better but not DIRECT bolt on. its a VERY easy change, but also not all the necessary if someone just want a little more kick for their DD.

300 dollar part kit + 569 evoIII16g > 958 t28.

evoIII16g = 380hp
gt28 = 310

If you want to go for a direct replacment though and dont want to buy the parts kit I would check out a disco potatoe, its a t28 on crack and only an extra 200 bucks. It was orginally designed for auto cross due to its super fast spool time. But with some stickys and a good launch that just means super low 60's.

Personally I wouldn't upgrade your turbo yet. Once you upgrade the turbo your going to have to upgrade more stuff to get the most out of it(fmic/supra smic, injectors, fuel pump, wide band, safc, and maybe even a fpr). Like I said before seeing how its a daily driver just get a boost controler and a boost gauge and keep her under 17 psi. More hp the more problems for a daily driver.

I agree with slow as far as what to get next. A manual boost controller and a boost guage is definetly the best way to unlock some good power.
