1. ok... i just read that there is a certain 1.8 that is just not able to be swapped with the 4g63.. is that true? if so, what one cuz i dont wanna get the 4g63t to swap it then not be able to.

2. i found a 4g63 non turbo for 700 bucks with only 40k miles on it... im gunna buy it if i can do the swap. then i wanna put an EVI III 16g turbo on it, but i also heard that when i put a turbo on there i will need to change the ecu, wiring harness, headgasket, cams, and injectors ect. is that true? if so how much will that run me?

1. > no idea

2. > more then what its worth, the oil spouts in the block are different and the pistons/rods are different, bottom line, it will work, but it will be less work if you buy a turbo 4g63.

i think what he is maybe talking about slow is the 2g eclipse N/T that comes with the 420a where you cannot swap in the 4g63. But then again that engine is a 2.0L so maybe thats not what your talking about. But as long as you have a 1g then the 4g63t should be able to be swapped in there.

the 7 bolt was produced from 92.5 -94 in the 1g, so yes it will fit, in a nut shell 6 bolt>7 bolt becuase its crank wont walk(crank walk).

For the 4g64, its the same thing as a 4g63 but its a 2.4 sohc. Its the motor that comes in the 3g eclipse gs/rs and the 2g eclipse spyder gs. Its not a bad motor but the 4g63 has more potential.

Honestly they would be about the same in the end, the 4g63 non turbo may be a little cheaper but its going to take alot of time and work to change over. If I were you, I would head down to the local junk yard and see if you can get your hands on a 6bolt short block, throw in some j.e. pistons, some eagel rods. Then order a ported/polished head off ebay strap that on with a mls headgasket and drop her in. It would cost a bit but you would have a nasty motor to work with.
