When choosing replacement speakers, is it better to go with 2 or 4 ohms? Also, how do I find out if the factory speaker is 2-way or 3-way? Basically, I'm replacing all the factory speakers in my 02 Eclipse GT and I'm not sure what speakers I should order. I know the sizes of the speakers but I'm lost when it comes to ohms and 2/3-way.

if you are thinking about ordering factory replacements... DONT
there are multiple speaker makers out here that blow away factory stuff.
Just visit audio forums and get at taste of how you can make your ride sound great for little, or fantastic for hundreds.
If you need any advice on 2-3 way, or passive/active crossover components, just ask.

Thanks for the info! I just ordered some Infinity Kappas to put in. Is there any trick to figuring out which factory wires are positive and which are negative? Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

the speakers have red and black wires on the prongs, those are good speakers, 4 ohm is all the factory system is going to do.

How do I find out which wires inside the car are positive and negative? The factory wires are strange colors (some orange, some blue-ish). Are there any tricks to installing speakers that may be helpful? Thanks for the help!

Also, the new speakers came with crossovers. Should I use these or is the car already equipped with those? I still have no idea which wires are positive and negative. Thanks for any help you guys can give.

the black wire with the white stripe is positive and the all black on is the ground. Your car is not equipped with crossovers and you can choose whether you want to use it or not.
