i know you guys have most likely read something similar to this over and over again to the point where it has become annoying, and for what its worth, i am really sorry. its just that i have a few questions i would like to resolve before i purchase an evo.

first off, i would like to know how everyone thinks of the auto-manual tranny in the X. Doesn't it basically kill the entire evo history? will it even make that much of a difference in performance as everyone says it will? how do you guys personally feel about the auto-manual placed into an evo? second, is super-YAW that big of a factor in a better time-attack time as it is said to be? Lastly, the reason im asking these questions is because i do not know whether i should purchase the 9 as i originally planned to do, or wait a bit for the X to come out and be perfected and purchase that instead. which one would you guys choose?

Evo history? Well, in the US it was 9, 8, Galant VR4, Eclipse, Conquest TSi?

I think the Evo is about getting a relatively inexpensive car to go REALLY fast using a turbo engine and AWD. The transmission isn't important to the legacy. I have a DSG in my current car and I adore it. It's faster than a manual, shifts when I want it to faster and cleaner than I can, is more efficient, and has an automatic mode for when I want to relax. Obviously, VWAG's implementation of DSG may be very different than what comes in the Evo X, but I suspect it'll be faster than the manual whatever it is.

I think the X is going to be a BIG improvement over the 9. Unfortunately, my wife insists on the more-normal-sedan look of the 9 and won't have an automated clutch so I gotta get a 9 of some type before they become unavailable.
