My temperature control dial doesnt turn to the hotter temperature section. It feels stuck & I dont really want to force it. Has anyone heard of this? Is there anyway I can defrost my windows without being able to turn the dial? Thanks

you can open the window (depending on situation) to let the outside air defog.

The temp. knobs are of terrible quality on the 03and 04 Outlanders- it shouldn't break though. Mine is the same way as what you are describing. You can try to use the defrost on cool to moderate temp. settings, it just doesn't work as well as the hot side.

Be careful though.. mine was sticking too.. asked my fiance to turn it to heat for me and the knob broke off. Anyone know if I should be able to replace the knob myself, or would a mechanic need to do it?

there are updated linkage componants for the outlander (and lancer) that decrease the force required to turn it by about 50 percent, if not more.
there is a TSB on this issue.

Im curious to know why everyone here refuses to actually take their cars in and discover this information for themselves.

Well could be a couple of things, don't want to pay for it since maybe they didn't buy from a dealer or the closest dealer is like an hour away as it is for me.

I used to take mine in on a regular basis...some of the dealers don't seem to be on top of the TSB's. I would ask for TSB's every couple of months with my car though to be sure there isn't something sneaking by me. Mitsu won't come find you- that's for sure.
