I am wondering if anyone has experience with the claim adjusters. My 2001 Eclipse GT has been totalled by an insurance company. ( GMAC ) The accident was caused by the GMAC driver and they are going to pay for it. I was told that GMAC will try to undercut me on the cost of the vehicle. I have used the Kelly Blue book rates for my car and have also looked up some Eclipses on Car MAXX. I have looked at some cars this week and wouldn't mind having another Eclipse GT. Can anyone give me some information on what I can expect?

Thanks for your time

it really depends on the appraiser and how he has quoted the car. I know that i recently just had a car totalled and the appraisal on the car was just around what the blue book value was. I think it actually might have been a bit higher. But that wasnt the same company that your dealing with either. I have never dealt with them so i really can say. I think though that all the appraiser stuff it from a program. So it should be a standard price. However they will take a portion off of that for something like "salvage deduction". Or something along those lines. I dont remeber exactly what they called it. And did they put you at all at fault for the accident. Cuz i know for mine the person ran a red light and yet i was still claimed at 20% fault. Insurance companies are dicks

Thanks for your help Engineer
I was hit and ran off the road by a real burnout, she was unable to anwser question by the Police/ Highway Patrol and believed to be DWI, she is currently in jail but I am not sure what's the charge.

When you say Blue Book do you mean the Kelly's Blue Book and if that's correct, would you know if the suggested retail value or the private party value was used? I have done both values and have also added the NADA value as well. I am looking at places like Car Maxx and finding that their GT's are valued at much higher prices than Kelly's Blue Book value on cars like mind. ( same year/ close mileage ) Is this the kind of stuff I will need or will it make a difference.

well they are gonna appraise ot at whatever it comes out as in there system. So all those are good for your own knowledge. But basically i dont know if the appraiser has looked at your car yet. Cuz when he comes he'll take pics, then ask all the stuff you had in the car (any extra's, factory options, ect.) Then they will make an appraisal on it. Im pretty sure they dont use any of those online book value stuff. I used KBB just to get an idea on my car. Heres an example with my car...

KBB suggested retail value - $1,870
Appraised by Insurance - $2,050

so there was a nice difference there. Total i think i would get like $1,9XX
