MR Better on the highway?

Trying to decide between MR and SE... The car is going to spend a fair amount of time on the highway. Does the sixth gear allow the rpms to stay lower at 70mph than does 5th on the SE? Looking at the gear ratios, I would expect it to. Also, I've heard the MR suspension is a little softer - can anyone confirm this?

MR final Drive is the same the RPMs will be MAYBE 200 lower in top gear thats if your lucky it is pretty much the same as the 5spd.

yes the MR suspension is different, but it is made for more comfort rather than performance they are a little softer but most MR owner hate them and upgrade because the cars only purpose in life is good cornering not luxary

For freeway use I would go with the MR. Lower top gear and the ratio from 5th to 4th is closer than that of the SE making it easier to pass; not that you will have a problem passing most things in 5th gear. [;)]

I dont get this post really... your RPMs in both the MR and the SE will be about the same in top gear they have the same final drive

Why bother with a extra gear for the highway unless its a double overdrive which mike said the mr is not. There is a kid in my town who owns a MR and I swear he must have to shift 3 times before I get through one gear.

yup, really why waiste $5k or so on a 6spd tranny it is not worth it to me

the bilstein shocks allow for better handing AND a better ride.

and the real reason for a 6 speed is not to have a "better cruising gear". its for ratio spread and performance.

I hate the ratios personally though they are way to quick. it requires shifts way to fast. the bilsteins are not to much of a handleing improvment from what all MR owners say, they claim they just make it softer and more of a comfort thing than anything. 9 out of 10 MR owners do suspension mods and most EVO owners will so buying an MR becomes only for the 6spd and the alluminm roof. (aside from look of course) but like I said the 6 spd tranny is way over rated IMO I just dont like the shorter gears since the 5spds are already really short
