Yo guys. I just got my 98 GSX turbo and to tell you the truth, i dont know much about turbos so id like to hear some info from YALL!
#1, whats a pyrometer
#2, How hot will a turbo get when cruizing down the road (average)
#3, how long should i wait before turning my car off at the end of a drive?
#4, How cool should i let it get before turning off the car( same as #3 i know.)
#5, how friggin cool are BOV's?

Thats about it. i would much appreciate your knowledge and help.

For the heat question, it will get very hot very fast, and for how long to wait it will depend on how long you drove and how you drove. You could buy a auto turbo timer, and it will do all that for you.

A pyrometer is usualy a sensor that tells you how hot your exhaust gases are. BOV's are the great debate. Some say vent to the atmosphere some say don't. If you do I suggest a HKS BOV SSQV. If not then keep the stock BOV if you have a 1G.

all the q's are taken care of I see...

pyrometer measures exhaust gases, your turbo gets very hot very fast.. its pretty cool when its cold out, cause after driving kinda hard, you can pull over and pop your hood to see it almost GLOWING red, its kick ass. Get a timer, they are only about $100 and VERY worth it. BOV's are kick ass... but debated yes, I say vent to atmosphere! I LOVE that sound... it makes the girls cream!! lol
