HAHAHAHA i HATE 928s. They suck. 944s have massive potential.

Well it sounds like you have a rod knock or a spun bearing.

I would do a compression test to see how they are working first.

thanks guys i also talked to another guy who builds these type of engines over in the N.Y. area he told me probably a wrist pin .either way its annoying as hell and its gotta be fixed this is why im needing another motor to build while i drive this one till she goes completly south ....but in your opinion is it cheaper to build a mod. motor or buy a long block already done .....crap these motors are not cheap!!!.....i can pick up a 944 engine for half the price and they are easier to find...

oh and as far as the 928 sucking.....ya i admit the look a bit like a euro pacer but if your looking to build a bad a-- drift racer look no farther than the 5.4 liter 928s 335 stock hp with a 45-55% wieght distribution besides the 944, its the only car of its time to be able to achieve 3.5 g"s in a corner and still keep all four corners on the asphalt....side step the clutch and boom your sideways ...just make sure your pointed in the right direction when it hooks up ...

250 is very acheivable but it will require a fully built block and a good turbo and tune. Search around here a bit cuz i know this has been discussed
