I'm having trouble with the 6 spd shifter on my 06 Eclipse GT. When accelerating harder than normal driving I keep hanging up from 2nd to 3rd. It feels like the shifter is hitting a wall so I have to move it around to find the 3rd gear slot. In my opinion the shifter requires a bit more effort than what I would consider normal.

The car only has 11,000 miles and hasn't been raced so I don't think the clutch is worn.

Is this charectoristic of the car or is this something I should let the warranty take care of?

definetly warrenty. It sounds to me like you have a bad syncro in the tranny since its only in that one gear. Id definetly bring it back to the dealer

Damn you. Always taking the good ones....

Either that or its an alignment problem... or you have a little air in the clutch lines....

Although im willing to bet its a syncro.

Do we grind our gears a little leedesert?

No, never grinding just get hung up going into 3rd like the shifter is catching on something. It doesn't do it all the time. Probably depends on what RPM I'm shifting at. If I take 2nd out above 4k and try to move into 3rd quick it catches.

hmmm... why not try a high rev downshift... then tell me if it grinds between the gears.

My bro had a bad syncro on his 2003 Infinity G35... turns out it was a recall. The tranny was fine going up the gears... but when you downshifted.. if you didnt match the revs perfectly you got a fat ass grind and everyone looks at you laughing.

I'll play around with it a bit more and see. I might be trying to cut the transition from 2nd to 3rd to tight, hitting that spot between 1st and 2nd.

no that shouldnt happen anyway. It should be smooth and spring assisted. Maybe you have lost one of the sptrings or bent one of the guids.
