when I bought my car, it came with a different motor, intstead of the 1.5 my mechanic put in a 1.8 because the original engine was shot. Now I was told that the engine came from a 93 mirage, but someone told me the engine in my car looks like a 93 eclipse engine. I know that it's a 1.8L engine because the 1.5L spark plugs were to big, When I saw matched up spark plugs when I did my tune up, the 1.8 spark plugs matched up with the ones I took out of my engine. If needed I can post pics of the engine at a later date. Is it possible for an eclipse engine to be in a mirage?

yes it is possible to put an eclipse motor in the colt!!! A friend did that! He put the 4G63TColt with 4G63T engine into his Colt instad of his GTI (4G93 140hp) motor! with his new engine he has got nearly 300HP!!! but the eclipse was never build with a 1.8l engine! the smallest block was the 2000er as david said!

hey, I don't really understand all these 4g93 or 4g63t terms. I'm still a rookie mechanic so what do you mean?.?. I know it's an engine but how do you know how to read the terms.

i'm a rookie too... i'm a simple electrican no mechanic! but 4G63T means: 4= cylinder G= is the fuel (G=gasoline D=diesel fuel) and 63 is the Type of the motor and the T is for Turbo

Mitsu did put a 1.8L SOHC engine in the 89-94 Eclipse. It was the 4G37.
They also used a 2.0L DOHC engine with and with out turbo. It was the 4G63 and 4G63T.

The 93-02 Mirage 1.8L is a 4G93.

The 92-02 Mirage 1.5L is a 4G15.
