It's listed at 140hp. The Dodge Neon R/T's and ACR's were listed at 150hp though. Same engine...so either Dodge is optomistic or Mitsu is pessimistic. Well, i take that back, the R/T and ACR had different cams i think...

The max hp? Well, that depends on the size of your wallet. My definition of maxing out a car is doing everything right up until it's not streetable. Like turbo lag until about 5000rpm is still somewhat streetable, but any higher and IMO it should be a race car. Well, a nice Mitsubishi 20G-N turbo or Garrett T4 can get you into the 500hp range, but in order to do that you need to seriously change some stuff in your engine. You'll need upgraded pistons, rods, valves, cams, springs, retainers, intake manifold, fuel injectors, fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel rails, engine management, transmission, axles, exhaust system, and a whole lotta other minor details. Now, if you want to make max hp WITHOUT breaking into the engine, you can go as high as 280hp crank. Any higher and you'll be testing the limits of the stock rods and pistons. Which ever route you choose, turbo, SC, NA with nitrous, you'll still need to upgrade the fuel system and intake/exhaust. Finding a supercharger for the non-turbo eclipse might be challenging since the engine promotes the use of a turbo(big open space in front of the engine and exhaust mani facing forward). It will deifinitely be a custom job, but there is a shop that might be able to help you or atleast give you some tips. It's Thomas Knight Turbo's. Don't be fooled by the name, they also deal with superchargers and have actually made the first "electronic supercharger" that's worth a damn. But 280hp is about the max without cracking open the engine. Hope this helps.
