Obviously, my '99 Galant has the same problem as JeffGolem's 2002 with 113k mi on it. My buddy works at one of those private collision centers; after he heard that sound, he said I have one of the lifters went bad. Oh well, tomorrow I'm taking it to my mechanic to have it checked and maybe fixed. I'll keep y'all updated on this. And yeah, HAPPY THANKSGIVING MITSUBISHI LOVERS! (in reply to Sebba) Post #: 12

By the way, I took some video with sound and I'm having trouble uploading it to this site so you can hear the noise too. If i get it figured out I'll post the audio of the problem. Ironically, we purchased the extended bumber to bumber warranty up to 100K. At 98K I brought the car into the dealer and complained about this same sound. They said it was fine "normal engine noise" Now at around 110K it is still there and even louder. I knew it was not normal engine noise and I should have pushed the dealer harder but I'm so busy these days. I feel like the dealer owes me something... You can try an oil additive that helps soffen them but the only real way to fix it is to get them changed. Do they still tick in hot weather?
