The Mitsubishi L200 is a compact pickup truck that was originally the imported version of the Mitsubishi Forte which began production in 1978. The Forte was discontinued in the Japanese Market, and the L200 simply took its place starting in 1987. If the name L200 doesn't sound familiar to you, you might know it as the Mitsubishi Mighty Max as it was named in North America. The Mighty Max was also sold by the Chrysler Corporation under the name of Dodge Ram 50.
The Dodge Ram was discontinued in 1993, but the Mighty Max was still available in the United States until 1996. The Mighty Max or L200 was available in three body styles which were regular cab, extended cab which was also called the Maco Cab and crew cab, which was not sold in the United States. Though the L200 was discontinued in 1996, it was soon replaced by the Mitsubishi Strada in 1997. The Strada has been redesigned again for the 2005 model year. The Strada is also built in Thailand and marketed as the Mitsubishi Triton. Though its been 10 years since the Mighty Max was produced, it is still what many people picture when they think of Mitsubishi trucks.
