The Mitsubishi Raider is a midsized pick up truck produced by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation. The Raider was introduced to the market in the fall of 2005 as the 2006 model. Though the Raider is known as the Mitsubishi Raider in some markets, it is known as the
Dodge Dakota in the United States and is built in the United States by Daimler Chysler Corporation. The name Raider was simply recycled from the Dodge Raider which was sold from 1987 through 1989, which was also renamed the
Mitsubishi Montero. The name change can be confusing for some, especially if you go from one market to another, but the
Dodge Dakota has become so well known the confusion is quickly gone!
The Raider is a midsized truck with a couple of engine choices. Consumers can choose from a 4.7 Litre PowerTech V8 engine with 230 horsepower and 290 pounds of torque per foot as well as a 3.7 Litre PowerTech V6 engine which produces a respectable 210 horsepower. Both engines have been well received by consumers since the Raider debuted in 2005. Several trim packages are available for the Raider, and Daimler Chyrsler plans to continue updating the vehicle to keep up with the competition in the midsized truck class.
